2008 Barbecue - also known as Summer Sizzler

This year's Barbecue will be held at the same place - the Victoria Park Pavillion - and the date will be Thursday August 7th. Price was $15 but $5 is subsidized by the club so you only pay $10.

Last year's chefs have retired and we will now employ a caterer.

There will be no regular meeting on this date

2008 Car Rally

The destination is a mystery but we are assured that the route will be interesting and worth navigating. This despite the fact that the testing was done in winter! Keep the date clear for a great event: Wednesday June 4, 2008. Tickets now sold out.

2007 Christmas Party

See Photos here.

The party was held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Best Western Hotel.

Entertainment was provided by the Trent River Band of Gold. In addition, music with flute and guitar was provided for the social hour and dinner. Door prizes (surprise) and table favours (truffles in presentation bags), were provided.

Via Rail
A raffle, sponsored by VIA Rail, was held for a prize of two return First Class train tickets for any destination between Cobourg and Quebec City. The winner was Elma Parker. (at right with President Larry Flood)
2008 Christmas Party

A survey of members was held at a recent meeting and based on majority preferences, the following was decided for the 2008 Party:

  • The event will be held at the Lion's Centre
  • It will be a dinner event and not afternoon
  • There will be Table service - not a buffet
  • Entertainment was preferred to a dance

The date will be December 18, 2008.

Committees

All Probus clubs are run by the members. A good way to organize the various activities is to form committees to look after them. [Click here for this year's committees]. A good committee realizes that not only do they have the job of doing whatever it is they were assigned to do, but they should also have fun while doing it. At right is a photo of most of the "Program" Committee at an "end-of year" get together.

New members especially can get the most out of Probus by joining a committee - the most new friends and the most fun!
